ABOUT
Los Angeles based singer-songwriter Brooke Murgitroyd began singing as soon as she learned to talk, and co-wrote her first song at 9 years of age. Born in Glasgow Scotland, she was raised in Raleigh, North Carolina. Her vulnerable lyrics combined with her powerful vocals evoke an emotional connection with her audience.
Brooke initially used songwriting as a way to process her experiences living with a chronic illness. Brooke’s ability to authentically share her own challenges grew into a desire to tell stories wider than her own through song, touching on topics she encounters in the world – loneliness, heartbreak, anxiety, and regret, as well as optimism, hope and joy. Her musical influences have evolved through the years, beginning with a love of musical theater and pop, and eventually expanding to include folk, indie, country, soul, jazz, and singer/songwriter genres. Brooke derives inspiration from artists including Lizzy McAlpine, Joni Mitchell, Kacey Musgraves, Maggie Rogers, and Sara Bareilles.
Brooke has released seven singles, recorded in Nashville, TN. While in high school, she attended Berklee College of Music's summer songwriting programs, and was selected as a vocalist for 2024 GRAMMY camp, run by the GRAMMY Museum in Los Angeles. Currently, Brooke studies popular music with an emphasis in songwriting at the University of Southern California's Thornton School of Music. She has performed at well-known Los Angeles venues including The Mint and The Moroccan Lounge.
